Support and Counseling
Both professional and family caregivers alike need support and counseling services to help them remain healthy and maintain their ability to care for others.
Much of their work is done behind the scenes and with great personal sacrifice. The stress level can be significant. The caregiver is often overwhelmed. While we often hear about the sacrifices of family caregivers, we must recognize that professional caregivers also experience stress and burnout due to the increasing patient load of our strained health care system.
Norma Smiles has volunteer social workers available to address situations such as compassion fatigue and grief support. We have both one-on-one options as well as group support.
Our Champions Circle is a support group for caregivers that meets on a regular basis for food, fellowship, learning from eachother, and special speakers to teach on topics of interest in the arena of caregiving.
